Todas ellas siguen siendo yo.

No sé cómo será.

No sé qué caminos me esperan.

No sabía cuánto iba a reír.

Cuánto iba a llorar.

Cuántas personas iba a conocer.

Y me marcho agradecida.

Emocionada.

Puedo comenzar otra vida.

WHEN YOU HANG UP A UNIFORM… BUT NOT THE WARRIOR
🌞🌈 There are goodbyes you imagine for years.
You think about what that last day will be like, about how you will feel when the time comes to put your uniform away for the very last time.
Mine came in a way I would never have chosen.
I never imagined the end of this chapter would feel so bittersweet. But sometimes life changes our plans without asking for permission.
And although this is not how I imagined saying goodbye, nothing can change the immense pride I feel today when I look back.
Almost 26 years ago, I joined the Army as a young woman full of dreams and excitement.
I had no idea what life had in store for me.
I served in different postings. I lived moments I will never forget. I met people who left a lasting mark on my life.
I learned that serving means being there when you are needed, even when nobody sees you.
I learned discipline, sacrifice, camaraderie and loyalty.
There were hard days.
There were wonderful days.
And every single one of them helped shape the woman I am today.
Today I close the door on a chapter that has taken up almost half of my life.
And it hurts.
It hurts because you are not simply leaving a job behind.
You leave behind comrades.
Memories.
Uniforms filled with stories.
Miles travelled.
Missions accomplished.
Places that became home.
People who became family.
And a part of yourself.
Almost 26 years cannot fit into a single goodbye.
Because behind every uniform there was a different version of me.
The young woman who started without knowing everything that was still to come.
The one who was afraid.
The one who made mistakes.
The one who learned.
The one who enjoyed every moment.
The one who sometimes thought she couldn’t go on.
And the one who, despite everything, kept moving forward.
They are all still part of me.
That is why today there is sadness.
But there is also an immense sense of pride.
Pride in having served.
Pride in having worn this uniform with respect.
Pride in the people with whom I shared this journey.
Pride in everything I have lived through.
And pride in looking back and knowing that I gave it everything I had.
Today, a different life begins.
And perhaps that is the part that scares me the most.
After so many years of knowing where I belonged, now I have to discover a new place for myself.
I don’t know what it will be like.
I don’t know what paths are waiting for me.
But there is one thing I do know.
After everything I have been through, I am no longer afraid of starting again.
For a long time, I thought that uniform was what made me strong.
Now I understand that it wasn’t.
The strength was never in the uniform.
It was in that young woman who put it on for the very first time.
It was there in every fall.
In every difficulty.
Every time I thought I couldn’t do it — and I did.
And that strength is still there, in the woman who now has to take the uniform off.
I look at that photograph from so many years ago and I can’t help but feel emotional.
Because that young woman still had no idea of everything she was going to experience.
She didn’t know how much she would laugh.
How much she would cry.
How many people she would meet.
How many times she would have to start again.
She didn’t even know the woman she would eventually become.
If I could go back to her today, to that exact moment as she kissed that flag, I would simply tell her:
“Enjoy it. Live every moment. Hold on to every memory. Because one day you will look back and realise that you weren’t simply building a career…
you were building yourself.”🌞🌈
